2016 Guide to Fourth of July Fireworks


It wouldn’t be the Fourth of July without fireworks displays.

And they’re not by any means all on July 4. Here’s a list of fireworks events in and around southern Westchester County.

Looking for some early excitement? 

Try the Hudson Valley Renegades and the Rockland Boulders over the June 17 weekend.
In addition to June 17 and 18, the Renegades also have fireworks June 23, 24 and July 1, 2 and 5.

The Boulders also have fireworks June 24, 25 and July 1, 2, 3 and 4.

June 30

The Village of Scarsdale will have a concert followed by fireworks on Thursday, June 30, at the Scarsdale Pool Complex. The doors open at 5 p.m. The Westchester Band will perform starting at 7:30 p.m. and the pyrotechnics will start at 9:15 p.m. There is an entrance fee of $2 for anyone who is not a pool member. The complex is at 311 Mamaroneck Avenue.

July 1

The Cross County Shopping Center will have music and fireworks on Friday, July 1. The center will present that British Invasion Tribute band in a live concert at the Summerfest Stage from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The fireworks display will be in the north parking lot at 9:30 p.m.

The White Plains Independence Day Celebration will be held Friday, July 1, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at White Plains High School. There will be entertainment, including the West Point Concert Band, as well as giant inflatable rides, food and fireworks. Admission is free. The rain date is July 6.

July 2

Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts in Katonah will present “Pops, Patriots, and Fireworks” at 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 2. The Westchester Symphonic Winds will perform works steeped in American heritage, guest vocalist Ryan Silverman will present a Frank Sinatra-themed Sinatra’s 100th birthday, and euphonist John Palatucci provide Sousa-studded fun. IF it rains, the concert will be held as planned, but the fireworks will be held at 9:30 pm Sunday, July 3. Tickets are $30 through $85. For more information, call 914-232-5035.

Pound Ridge will have Independence Day fireworks at dusk on Saturday, July 2 at the Town Park in Pound Ridge.

July 3

The Kensico Dam Music Fest and Fireworks will take place on Sunday, July 3 at the Kensico Dam, Bronx River Plaza in Valhalla. A concert of patriotic music begins at 8 p.m. and will be followed by fireworks at 9:15 p.m. Bring a picnic and chairs. Carpooling is recommended. For more information, call 914-231-4033.

July 4

Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow will have fireworks Monday, July 4, starting at 9 p.m. It will run for about 30 minutes. The best viewing is from either Pierson Park in Tarrytown or Kingsland Point Park in Sleepy Hollow.

The City of Larchmont will celebrate Independence Day with Fourth of July Races and Music in the Parks, followed by fireworks. The concert in Manor Park begins at 7 p.m. Monday, July 4, and will feature the Dixie Dandies. Americana music and traditional favorites.

Rye Playland will have two evenings of fireworks in honor of Independence Day this year. A fireworks display will be held on Sunday, July 3, and Monday, July 4, at 9:30 p.m. Playland also has fireworks shows every Friday throughout the summer.

Dobbs Ferry will have fireworks for Independence Day on Monday, July 4, at about 9 p.m. at Waterfront Park. The festivities will start with a DJ and music at 3 p.m., playing right up until the pyrotechnics begin. Parking is available only for cars with a resident sticker.

The Village of Irvington will celebrate the Fourth of July with fireworks on Monday, July 4, at sunset at Matthiessen Park. The event is open to village residents only. Park passes will be needed.

The City of New Rochelle will have fireworks in celebration of Independence Day on Monday, July 4, at 9:30 p.m. The pyrotechnics will take place in Hudson Park and the event is open to all.
